Youth Groups

Youth Club

The youth club runs in Kirkmichael village hall between October and March for the winter session, and for the summer months we pick specific dates that we will run out door activities on the Bannerfield.

The club is run by Kim and Andrew Duncan and is open to children between 5 and 18 years old. In the winter session we run a wide variety of events including football, roller skating, uni-hock, hand ball, painting and basic cookery to name but a few.

The costs are £1.50 for the first child of any family then £1.00 each for any other child of the same family. Times for the winter session are each Friday evening 6:30 to 8:00 for the younger group (Primary school age) and 8:00 to 9:30 for the older group.

The summer session is more flexible and is dictated by the weather, holidays etc. but we advertise the dates and details in the shop windows (Kirkmichael and Bridge of Cally).

In the summer we will be playing field games for example rounders and we may well use the excellent new all weather court at Kirkmichael School as well. For the summer session we would be delighted to see as many parents as possible stay and join in.

Also all through the year we run a football club with games every Sunday afternoon. It has been a real struggle but now we have an excellent pitch with real goal posts and nets . This is semi-run by the youth club and we would be delighted to see any one of any sex or any age come down to the Bannerfield on a Sunday for a kick about. We generally start about 3:00 pm each Sunday

For information on any of the above please contact Kim or Andrew on 01250 881370

Strathardle Cubs & Beavers

We meet every week on a Tuesday evening at Blackwater Hall from 5.45 to 7.15pm; the fees per person are £1.50.

Both cubs and beavers are groups that follow the Scouting Programme. The activities vary from week to week. We do painting; making things, go exploring and lots more. Each term the children work towards either a challenge badge or an activity badge. The aim of cubs and beavers is to stimulate and enhance each child to their full potential.

We go on outings and on camps but each child only works to what they are capable of. They are encouraged to interact and learn to use social skills. Each term we have a member of the public come and talk to us. In the past we have had the police from Blairgowrie come up and talk to us about road safety and let the children look inside a police car. Also the children have been to visit the local fire station and they got to use the fire hoses!

If you are interested in your child coming along for a taster session or just for a talk and please come on a Tuesday evening and see us or get in touch with one of our leaders,
Donna Blanche (Beaver Leader) - 01250 881729 or
Ian Rimmer (Cub Leader) - 01250 886755

Any adult or parental help on a Tuesday evening is always welcome.

1st Strathardle Brownies

A fun weekly meeting for girls aged 7-10 where we do crafts, play games, sing songs, do cooking, have fun outdoors, raise money for appeals or charities, (e.g. the Tsunami), and go on trips.

We are part of the Guide Association, following a new programme called the Brownie Adventure, which is based around three areas, ourselves, the local community and the world. Girls are divided into groups called sixes, with an older, more experienced Brownie as the sixer (leader). For some activities they will work in these groups with the older girls helping the younger ones. The girls can also work to gain badges for a wide variety of interests, e.g. Fire Safety, collector, music, craft, gardening etc.

Some terms we follow a particular theme, such as a recent theme of animals. We looked at endangered animals on the web, did animal crafts, thought about our pets, played animal games, visited a new born foal and went on a trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park.

As part of our local community aspect we have planted trees on the Bannerfield and have been litter picking.

We meet on a Tuesday evening in Kirkmichael Village Hall from 6 – 7:30 pm and welcome new girls to join us. The leaders and their contact details are:-
Kitty Clare - 01250 885218
Petrina Menzies - 01250 882242.
