Neighbourhood Watch

As a result of discussions between the Blairgowrie Police and Mount
Blair Community Council representatives, it has been agreed that a new
version of the Neighbourhood Watch concept will be introduced in the
Mount Blair Community Council area.  This will replace the discontinued
“Glenwatch” system which previously operated in the area.

The new system is known as the “Neighbourhood Watch / VIP Informer
System”.  This system works in a different way from Glenwatch, in that
individual households are invited to “opt in” to the system, and only
those who have “opted in” will be directly contacted by the system.

Residents or householders who do wish to participate in the system need
to opt in by completing, signing and returning the form (VIP Form).  The
form can then be returned by post in paper form, or transmitted by fax
or by scanned email attachment to the addresses / number shown on the
form.

As is explained on the form, participants in the scheme can then be
contacted by the Police, either by telephone or email as applicable, to
be offered advice in such matters as crime prevention or given warning
of suspicious activities.  Because details of householders who have
“opted in” will be held both in the Divisional Police Headquarters in
Perth and in the Blairgowrie Police Station, warning or advisory
messages may be sent from either of these sources.  The details would
also be accessible by the Blairgowrie-based Community Police Officer for
the Mount Blair Community Council area.

We would ask you to consider “opting in” to this system, which we
consider could be a great help towards improving safety and security in
the Mount Blair Community Council area.

Doreen MacIntyre
Chair
Mount Blair Community Council

Public Consultation on Core Paths Plan Proposals

Consultation Period until 31 March 2008

View the plans and obtain a comments form at the Session House, the Council Offices in Blairgowrie or at www.pkc.gov.uk.

The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 gives people a right of non motorised responsible access and puts a duty on Councils to plan a core paths network. Core paths should make it easier for people to get out and enjoy the countryside and will in time it is planned that the paths will be waymarked.

People throughout Perth & Kinross have been involved in community consultations to help with core paths planning.  Perth & Kinross Council is now consulting on the proposals drawn up from the community consultations. The informal consultation will run until 31st March 2008 with the aim of refining the plans before the 12-week-long statutory consultation on the overall PKC Draft Core Paths Plan that will begin around April 2008. Any comments are welcomed at this informal consultation stage, to help ensure that as many issues as possible can be dealt with at this stage.

Paper copies of the core paths plan proposals for the Strathardle and Glenshee area can be viewed at the Session House, Kirkmichael and the Council Offices in Blairgowrie during normal opening hours.  The proposals can also be viewed as a series of maps online at www.pkc.gov.uk.  You can give your feedback on the proposals using comments forms, which will be available at the Session House, at the Council Offices, and online.

For response forms or further information please contact the Access Officers at Perth & Kinross Council, Environment Service, Pullar House, 35 Kinnoull Street, Perth PH1 5GD. Tel 01738 475332 or e-mail countryside@pkc.gov.uk
