Postie's Stone - Moulin Moor. In memory of John Soutar who perished here in a snowstorm 3rd March 1897. Erected by a few friends. A view from Williamston to Kirkmichael showing The Kirkmichael Hotel, the Session House and the Church in 1930 Kirkmichael Village Pre1900. This shows the village shop as just a single storey however this is not the only building in the village to be extended upwards.
As you can see the picture below of Kirkmichael school in 1908 is again just a single storey. It is believed that the second storey was built on in the early 1920’s - can anyone confirm this or tell us differently.
